Access keys
Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that replace the need to use a
mouse for navigation. For this site, you can use:
ALT - A (press enter) for Accessibility page
ALT - H (press enter) to go to the homepage
ALT - M (press enter) to go to Main Menu links
ALT - S (press enter) to go to Sub Menu links
ALT - C (press enter) for main page content
Please note your browser may not support access keys.
Accessibility
This website has been designed to be as accessible as possible to
people with disabilities and also to be compatible with the types
of adaptive technology used by people with disabilities, including
screen readers and text only web browsers.
Navigating this website
To navigate through this website, please use the menu on the
left-hand side of the page. You can use the tab key to navigate
through the menu links. Using a screen reader or text only browser
you can skip the navigation using the skip navigation link.
Font sizes
You may change the display font size to your preference using your
browser. In Internet Explorer, select View, then Text Size, and
then your preferred size. In Netscape select View, then Text Zoom,
and then your preferred percentage size. Other browsers may
vary.
Style sheets
You may import your own style sheet into this website. In Explorer
select Tools, then Internet options, and then Accessibility. Next
click on any or all of three checkboxes to ignore colours, font
styles or font sizes. In the same window you can change your style
sheet by clicking the checkbox that says, 'format documents using
my style sheet' then simply browse to your style sheet and click
ok.
In Netscape select Edit, then Preferences and then Appearance. You
will then be given the choice to specify your own colours and
fonts.
Accessible PDF
We recommend that users download the latest version of Adobe
Acrobat to view Adobe PDF files. Please note some of our older
archived Adobe PDF files may not be completely accessible when
using screen readers, as PDF files are only accessible when they
have specifically been made to be so.
Adobe Acrobat 6.0 software provides a number of capabilities that
improve access for disabled users, including the following:
- reads Adobe PDF files aloud using standard operating system
text-to-speech functionality
- gives greater control when using screen readers
- evaluates the accessibility of an Adobe PDF file
- creates accessible Adobe PDF documents and forms quickly
- reduces the size of tagged Adobe PDF files for faster download
times
Adobe Acrobat 5.0 software also provides improved access for
disabled users:
- converts new and existing PDF files to tagged Adobe PDF files
with the optional Make Accessible plug-in
- includes tools to help troubleshoot and optimise Adobe PDF
files for accessibility, including the accessibility checker, the
Tags palette, and more
- provides usability enhancements, including enhanced keyboard
shortcuts, support for high-contrast viewing, and the ability to
zoom in and reflow text on the screen
