What we do Our technical specialists Who we work with Working with us

What we do

Our mission is to inform debate and policy on global health issues and national health systems in order to reduce inequalities in health.
It is also our role to support the technical excellence of HLSP’s work.

We focus both on policy and practice for development. Our research and contributions to policy and debate are informed by practical experience gained from HLSP country and global level work, and benefit from the input and collaboration of southern partners. We share our experience through seminars, publications, and the development of training and technical resources.

Policy analysis and debate
We monitor trends in the sector, identify important issues, analyse policy and develop pragmatic, well-informed proposals for improving policy and strategy. We aim to offer timely and relevant contributions to debate in international health and development assistance. We do this through commissioned work as well as through publications and seminars.

To find out about our latest work, read our Technical Approach papers and Technical Briefs.

Applied research
We gather evidence about what works and why. We conduct action research to test and assess innovative approaches, and to review and assess the impact of specific interventions.

Professional development and learning from experience
We develop innovative and user-friendly training and technical resources for national officials and health managers. We disseminate thinking and lessons learnt from HLSP’s project work through publications, seminars and other types of media. We also have an in-house professional development role, and provide a range of information products and training activities for HLSP staff and consultants.
